Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Women, Asst. Prof. Dr. Athmar Shaker Majeed Al-Shatri, and under the supervision of the Head of the Home Economics Department, Asst. Prof. Iman Ali Hadi, and under the slogan “Achieving sustainable development… For a better tomorrow” The Department of Home Economics held a scientific symposium tagged: “Sustainable Development and Maintaining Mental Health for Future Generations” on Monday, 24/3/2025 at ten o’clock in the morning, and at the Graduate Studies Hall in the department, and was attended by a group of professors and employees, and a group of professors lectured in it.
The seminar aims to find out the following:
Understand the relationship between sustainable development and mental health.
Review the challenges facing mental health in light of global changes.
Provide innovative solutions to promote mental health as part of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Encourage dialogue between experts and decision-makers to adopt policies that support mental health and sustainability.
The symposium reached a set of recommendations, the most important of which are:
Promote environmental awareness and mental health in school curricula to teach children how to deal with climate change.
Provide psychological support programs in schools and communities affected by environmental disasters.
